The project was entrusted to us by a Swiss couple, with two children, who had recently bought a plot in the municipality of Torre del Mar and who came recommended by Albert Niessen, a previous, very special client, with whom we had already worked in Cala from Mijas. The plot had a strong slope to the south that largely conditioned the shape of the house. The only access to the house from the street is located on the upper level. The main determinant of this house is the little buildable area that the plot had, there were only 120 m2 buildable. In order to make the most of the surface area, the different floors of the house are embedded in the ground, leaving half-buried corridors and stairs. Thanks to the knowledge of the municipal regulations, it was possible to build about 170 m2, with only 120 of them computable. The program called for accommodating three bedrooms and an open living-dining room-kitchen space open to the pool. To minimize the routes, a hinged staircase was arranged between the bedrooms that were distributed forming an “F” facing the sea.
